Oakland Soul Lose First Game of the Season 1-0 Against Cal Storm
Cal Storm took the initiative early on by scoring the opening goal of the game just under 10 minutes into the match, giving them a 1-0 lead at home. As the first half progressed, Soul gradually regained their momentum and created several chances, albeit without converting them into goals. Jordan Geis and Nayeli Diaz had the best opportunities, but Soul couldn’t find the equalizing goal before half time, going into the break with a 1-0 deficit.
Oakland Soul started the second half brightly, with Jordan Geis and Sarah Mirr both coming close to scoring in the early stages of the half. Despite maintaining pressure with the wind at their back, Oakland entered the final 10 minutes still trailing by one goal. Soul battled to the final whistle but in the end it just wasn’t enough as the team dropped their first game of the year.
On Sunday, June 11th, Oakland Soul will play an away match against SF Glens at Skyline College, with kickoff scheduled for 3:30 PM PT.
