Oakland Soul Sports Club announces the first group of signings for the inaugural roster. The first six players joining the squad are Defender Mia Parkhurst, Midifielder Zoë Parkhurst, Forward Samantha Tran, Midfielder Isabella Flocchini, Midfielder Kaytlin Brinkman, and Defender Malia Yamamoto.
“This initial group represents the Bay Area and the talent that exists here,” said Oakland Soul Head Coach Jessica Clinton. “Our roster is made up of some of the best youth players, top college players, and veterans who have played at the highest levels in the game, including NCAA Championships and Women’s Professional Leagues.”
Mia Parkhurst is a 19-year-old from Atherton, California and a product of the De Anza Force Academy. She most recently finished her sophomore season at the University of Georgia where she was part of the SEC honor roll and made the Dean’s list. Mia recently transferred to the University of Montana where she will play this fall.
Zoë Parkhurst is the 18-year-old younger sister of Mia Parkhurst who is graduating from IMG Academy and committed to play at University of Mississippi for the fall. She was the captain of both the U17 and U19 IMG teams. In 2016, 2017, 2020, and 2021, Zoë was a US Soccer National Training Center Invitee and on the Top Drawer Soccer Top 150 players list from 2018-2022.
Samantha Tran is a 24-year-old from Tracy, California. Tran is a product of the De Anza Force Academy and Stanford University where she was a part of two NCAA National Championships and four Pac-12 Conference titles. She currently works on staff at Life Academy in Oakland, California.
Isabella Flocchini is a 19-year-old from Reno, Nevada who currently is part of the San Jose State Women’s Soccer program. In 2021 Flocchini was named the Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of Nevada. Since joining San Jose State, Flocchini has been named to the All-Academic Team and All-Mountain West Second Team in 2022, and was a Mountain West Scholar Athlete in 2021-2022.
Kaytlin Brinkman is a 23-year-old from Antioch, California who is a product of Diablo FC and Freedom High School in Oakley, California. The East Bay native went on to play for Saint Mary’s College and Cal State Fullerton where she was named to the Big West All-Second Team and NCAA Division I All-West Region Second Team.
Malia Yamamoto is an 18-year-old from Los Gatos, California who has recently committed to play at Santa Clara University. Yamamoto is an MVLA Soccer and Los Gatos High School product, where she was named team captain this year as well as Santa Clara Valley Athletic League Defensive Player of the Year.
