Oakland, CA – Oakland Soul SC have confirmed that they will be playing four USL W League regular season home games in Oakland at Merritt College. There will be one game at Laney College before an Oakland Roots SC game, as well as one additional game played at the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Training Facility.
“Merritt is a perfect location for us to launch Oakland Soul in 2023,” said Director of Business Development for Oakland Soul SC, Jenna Lamb. “With scenic views and a rich Oakland history, we could not be more excited to call Merritt home. We also look forward to bringing Soul games to Laney, with our home opener on the same day as an Oakland Roots SC match, giving us a chance to celebrate together.”
In 2021, Oakland Roots SC played at Merritt College for one game, which ended in a 2-1 win over LA Galaxy II. Project 51O has also called Merritt home through parts of its history.
Merritt College is located in the Oakland Hills with one of the most iconic views of Oakland anywhere in The Town. The Merritt College Athletics Department has just installed a brand new turf soccer field in the stadium renovating the look and performance level of the pitch to new heights. The future for soccer and all athletics at Merritt College is on the rise.
“Oakland Soul and Oakland Roots SC are a very special organization for our City and we are happy we were able to work together to make Merritt College available for Oakland Soul home games in 2023,” said Merritt College Athletic Director, Brock Drazen.
